About the group:

Let's weave together community and knowledge to bring forth a world that works for all of the tender life forms that live here.

I'll host a few book-based discussions throughout the year to support us in deepening our community-based, embodied. understanding of the work we're here to do and the vision for the world we are tending together.

Books will be sharply but creatively focused on ecology, grassroots organizing, decolonization/indigenous leadership, and other emergent, land-based topics. I'll host 3-4 discussions throughout the year, and welcome others to select books and host in off months.

Discussions are open to all ages, but please, willing participants only! If you need help finding childcare, let me know and we'll see if we can find a creative solution. You're welcome to come if you've only read part of the book. See below for other accessibility information.

About Braiding Sweetgrass:

From Milkweed Editions Publisher:
“As a botanist, Robin Wall Kimmerer as been trained to ask questions of nature with the tools of science. As a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, she embraces the notion that plants and animals are our oldest teachers. In Braiding Sweetgrass, Kimmerer brings these lenses of knowledge together to show that the awakening of a wider ecological consciousness requires the acknowledgment and celebration of our reciprocal relationship with the rest of the living world. For only when we can hear the languages of other beings are we capable of understanding the generosity of the earth, and learning to give our own gifts in return.”

About the space:

The Workshop Space has been brought to life by the Center for Restorative Solutions founder Pam Orbach. I'll share the address with those who RSVP.

The space is located in a former garage. The main entrance is accessible by a few brief flights of stairs, but stair-free entry is possible. Just let me know ahead of time! The bathroom door is not wheelchair accessible. The space is fragrance free, and there will be both cushioned floor and folding chair seating.

Tea and water will be available throughout our meeting. Feel free to bring snacks to share.

Discussions are what makes communities. If you are not even discussing with the people around you, then what are you doing? I know that there are people who do not want to discuss or are afraid of doing it, and that is okay. I am not saying that you should rush into discussions, take your time. I want you to join discussions, but I also want you to feel good and confident about yourself, make no mistake about my intentions.
