Marisa has over 7 years of experience in various horticulture fields. Through professional garden maintenance, organic vegetable and flower farming, retail nursery experience, and various technical trainings she has developed a wide range of skills and methods. She focuses on harnessing the unique opportunities of gardening in the Pacific Northwest, informed by knowledge of ornamental, native and edible plants as well as our Maritime climate and ecosystems.
She received a degree in Community, Environment and Planning from the University of Washington in 2010. Through her studies of community development alongside environmental science and planning, she came to realize the vital importance of living spaces and human interdependence with our ecosystems as a fundamental part of community and personal wellbeing. As her gardening practice has deepened, she's become increasingly aware of the diverse benefits of meaningful connection with our surroundings, specifically to our physical health, creativity, and sense of serenity.
